Conventions in depth
This is the plainest defence to the opponents’ 1NT. Overcall a good six-card (or strong five-card) suit at the two level with about 10 points or more, double for penalty with a balanced hand of 15 or more high-card points, as strong as the opener, and otherwise pass. Nothing artificial: you bid what you hold. Partner raises the overcall with three-card support and 8 or more points counting shortness and extra trumps, and otherwise passes.
